Our Spotlight series lets us tell the stories of the people who make up the Lions & Tigers community. Erin Callahan (she/her) is a Lead Consultant at Lions & Tigers working and living in the Seattle area. She is a “connector” by definition—meaning she helps people identify their strengths and connects them to the opportunities they need. We love Erin’s passion for stewardship and the way flexible work helps her to raise her two middle-schoolers while helping forge these connections.
ABOUT ERIN
I grew up in Puyallup and attended Washington State University – Go Cougs!!! I enjoyed living in Eastern Washington for college and on the East Coast for grad school, but Western Washington has always been my home, and I’ve been back here for almost 20 years. I especially love living at the base of a gorgeous mountain with my two energetic middle schoolers and their two furry companions.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE
My career has been centered around helping people gain access to programs, resources and organizations that help them improve their skills, confidence, and opportunities. My current work involves collaborating with thought leaders, program managers, learning partners, event planners, storytellers, and creative teams to help drive participation and engagement in enablement programs. I enjoy contributing to programs and initiatives that help people to become better at their jobs, grow their businesses, and improve how they serve their customers and communities.
WHY L&T?
I learned about Lions & Tigers from a friend and was immediately impressed by how courageously the leadership team at L&T lives the company values “out loud.” Now that I’m here, I am proud to be part of a company that identifies need for change in the workplace, industry or community and takes action through advocacy, education, amplification, and implementation of practices that truly make a difference.
AREAS OF INTEREST & PASSIONS
Professionally, I am passionate about helping people develop the skills and confidence they need to pursue and perform work that aligns with their purpose. I also approach each deliverable with a lens on inclusion and accessibility and am happy to have the opportunity to work with team members and organizations who share this commitment and focus.
Personally, I love music, theater, running, nature and, of course, my family. Over the past few years, I have found great joy in camping and road trip adventures with my kids.
BENEFIT OF HIGH IMPACT, FLEXIBLE WORK
I find the biggest benefits to flexible work are being able to prioritize important things in life outside of work and being able to create the time and space for creative incubation, which often leads to greater clarity and impact.
WISDOM
My best advice for navigating career transitions is to believe it’s possible, boldly connect with those who can help you get there (LinkedIn is your friend!!), actively work on building the skill of resilience, develop a gratitude practice, and choose to receive feedback with a growth mindset.
