Consultant Spotlight: Cole Driver

Sep 1, 2021 | people

Our Consultant Spotlight series lets us tell the stories of the people who make up the Lions & Tigers community. L&T Consultant Cole Driver (he/him) has experience as a Speechwriter and Communications Strategist working on political campaigns and even did a stint as an intern on Saturday Night Live. Originally from Texas, Cole loves the flexibility of high impact, remote work.

ABOUT COLE

I am a native of East Texas and was raised about 10 miles from Kacey Musgraves, whose new album, Star-Crossed is out on Sept 10th.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE

I was previously a speechwriter and communications strategist for Senator Jacky Rosen, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm and James Carville aka “The Ragin’ Cajun”, of whom I worked under on a battleground campaign to flip Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania in the 2020 presidential election. However, I started off as a very critical senior-level intern to the good people of Saturday Night Live.

WHY LIONS & TIGERS

Life brought Lions & Tigers to me, and I am so glad it did — everyone is great!

AREAS OF INTEREST & PASSIONS

I love Basset Hounds. Hippos. And Bread Pudding. I also love writing across different types of formats (Speeches, books, even a little music — like my hometown hero, Sissy Spacek.)

BIGGEST BENEFIT TO HIGH IMPACT, FLEXIBLE WORK

Leading a life untethered to a physical workplace can open the door to limitless opportunities and experiences that were once inconceivable before COVID-19. I’m all in. Goodbye, 9 to 5!

PERSONAL HEROES

Toni Morrison, Sissy Spacek, and Kacey Musgraves.

ADVICE TO OTHERS NAVIGATING A CAREER TRANSITION

Go out on a limb. Apply for jobs that are over your head. The worst thing that happens is rejection (I’ve been rejected about 3 million times, but like Kelly Clarkson famously originated, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.)
