Consultant Spotlight: Robert Rowe

Jul 8, 2021 | people

Our Consultant Spotlight series lets us tell the stories of the people who make up the Lions & Tigers community. A talented artist with a background in animation and 3D, Robert Rowe (he/him) turned to consulting to combine his business knowledge with his visual skills. Outside of work, he enjoys painting, drawing, spending time with loved ones and rooting for the Seattle Mariners.

ABOUT ROBERT

I live in Kirkland; I grew up in this area (the eastside) and have spent my whole life living in the state of Washington.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT LIVING IN THE PNW

I love the access we have to so many types of geography, we are hours away from a rain forest, ocean, the Sound, mountains, and multiple deserts.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE

I’m a former 3D artist who spent a few years in the animation industry before falling out of it and working for years in various jobs. Eventually, I went to business school and entered the world of consulting. Now, after 9 months at L&T, I focus on combining my business knowledge and experience with my visual acuity to deliver quick and clean assets.

I am very experienced with Photoshop and PowerPoint. I have spent time in InDesign, Illustrator, and the backend of SharePoint making simple interfaces for users to navigate lists. I enjoy learning and supporting others to grow.

WHAT LED YOU TO BECOMING A 3D ARTIST

I saw Toy Story in the theater on my 10th birthday and after I wanted to make 3D movies. I always loved Legos so using a 3D program allowed me to have unlimited space to be creative.

WHY LIONS & TIGERS

I enjoy working at Lions & Tigers or “Ligers” because the people here are intelligent and talented, which motivates me to step up my game and always perform at the same high level as my peers.

AREAS OF INTEREST & PASSIONS

I love painting, drawing, traveling, sports, and spending time laughing with my friends and family. I support small businesses when I can, and I avoid watching too much TV (except for my beloved Mariners) because I know TV will always be there, but my body and youth will not.

FAVORITE PLAYER ON THE MARINERS

Past: Ken Griffey Jr.

Current: Mitch Haniger – Dependable and seems like a nice guy. I hope he will get to play in the post-season someday. Unfortunately, it will likely be for another team.

PLUG FOR A SMALL BUSINESS YOU LIKE

I like to buy my art supplies from the Artful Touch in Totem Lake. The lady who owns it also works the counter. She is always kind and maybe I could buy the store from her one day.

BIGGEST BENEFIT TO HIGH IMPACT, FLEXIBLE WORK

I am serious about delivering high-quality work, but I like to make jokes and lighten the mood whenever I can because work should be a fun place from time to time.

DREAM TRAVEL DESTINATION

I would like to ride a motorcycle around Europe for a year. Often, when I fly into other countries, I look at the ground and think about how I would love to be on the ground meeting cool people and experiencing their culture.

ADVICE TO OTHERS NAVIGATING A CAREER TRANSITION

I always recommend weighing the risks vs. rewards in your decisions and continuously strive to move forward. Life is too short to be held up in the same spot for too long.
