Consultant Spotlight: Gabriela Tamburino

Jun 25, 2020 | people

Our Consultant Spotlight series lets us tell the stories of the people who make up the Lions & Tigers community. This week we continue the series featuring an interview with Gabriela Tamburino, a Lions & Tigers Project Manager with a love of travel and adventure.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Miami, I am a proud Latina (Dominican & Uruguayan).

About 2.5 years ago my husband and I were living in the heart Denver both working remotely and staring at construction every day. We were craving a change and a new adventure. We got rid of more than half of our belongings and moved into a 25 ft Airstream. We spent 2.5 years traveling across the US (mostly the Western states) working from forests and outside of national parks.

MY WORK

My career to this point has been completely in the startup world, helping beginner brands find their voice and elevate their online presence. I’ve worked both agency-side and product-side. I was always used to wearing a lot of hats, touching every part of the business. My work varied from account management to brand management to content strategist to digital marketer and more.

I am currently working as a Project Manager supporting the Microsoft One Commercial Partner organization. I’m proud to be working on the #Buildfor2030 campaign where Microsoft is recognizing partners whose solutions align with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

WHY LIONS & TIGERS

The prioritization of work-life balance was key for me. After working remotely for 5 years, I knew it was important for me to find a company that understood the value of flex work. Lions & Tigers gives me the ability to work on big and exciting projects without having to sacrifice my mental state.

FAVORITE PARK OR PLACE VISITED WHILE TRAVELING

City of Rocks is an amazing state park in Southern New Mexico that has a special place in my heart. You’re driving in the middle of nowhere and suddenly you see a collection of volcanic rock formations with all the campsites tucked in the rocks. The most beautiful sunsets and sunrises I’ve ever seen. Unforgettable.

MUST HAVE CAMPING GEAR

I could talk about camping gear all day. I really love our Berkey water filter. It removes all harmful contaminants from your water, making the water clean and delicious. It’s come in handy when we’ve camped in remote spots in California.

BENEFIT OF FLEXIBLE, HIGH IMPACT WORK

Not sacrificing my mental health for my career. I can have both! Mid-day yoga is also a treat.

ADVICE TO OTHERS NAVIGATING CAREER TRANSITIONS

Sometimes the traditional mold doesn’t fit you or your lifestyle. It’s ok to look forward and evolve your work style to fit your life goals. It doesn’t have to be the other way around.

WHAT’S NEXT ON THE ADVENTURE LIST

After 2.5 years of traveling, we are excited to park our Airstream in Washington and explore locally. The Pacific Northwest is so special! There are also so many parks that are just a day trip away. Yellowstone, we’re coming for you
