Consultant Spotlight: Robert Higa

Apr 16, 2021 | people

Our Consultant Spotlight series lets us tell the stories of the people who make up the Lions & Tigers community. Intrigued by the idea of a flexible work schedule, Robert Higa joined Lions & Tigers after finishing business school. With a background primarily in design, Robert shifted gears and now works with Microsoft within the Business Applications ecosystem.

ABOUT ROBERT

I grew up in the Seattle area. I worked primarily in the New York design scene before moving back to Seattle a little over a year ago.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE

My work experience entails an eclectic mix of product launches & events – I started in fashion show production with a company that produced over a dozen shows per season. After a couple seasons, I switched to work in-house for one of the clients, womenswear designer Jen Kao. I then transitioned to the industrial design world and spent five years working for David Weeks Studio. While it was mostly high-end lighting and furniture, my last project with them was working with Areaware to launch a capsule collection of the children’s toy, Cubebot.

CURRENT WORK

I currently work with Microsoft within the Business Applications ecosystem supporting Customer Evidence & Wins, Solutions pages, Microsoft Vaccination Management, and Return to School.

WHY LIONS & TIGERS

I was referred to Lions & Tigers from close friend of mine and was intrigued by the idea of a flexible work schedule. I had just finished business school and was still settling into Seattle, unsure if I was going to stay. What made me stick around is the genuine support provided by my team and the rest of L&T.

AREAS OF INTEREST & PASSIONS

I like to keep up with what is happening in the American design scene and monitor trends across music, design, fashion, and art. I like going to all types of shows, ranging from techno to Broadway. I also like dogs.

BIGGEST BENEFIT TO HIGH IMPACT, FLEXIBLE WORK

I enjoy working across multiple projects and always having to wear multiple hats throughout the day.
