Video Transcript:

Hi, I’m Brea Starmer, the founder of lions and tigers.

Hey, everyone, I’m Sarah Peck. I’m the CEO of startup parent.

Parenting affected how I showed up to work, but not in the way that I expected.

How do you think the parenting has changed you? Do you think it’s changed, you? Has it changed how you’ve shown up to work?

I was really rebelling against Parenthood, like I was like, this is not going to change me, I’m going to still be interesting. I’m going to talk about politics. Like I was, I just didn’t want this to consume my identity. And then I had cedar, and I was like, oh, it doesn’t just consume your identity. It changes it rewrites your DNA in a way. Like I just didn’t know that. There’s all this research now that shows that women in the first year after giving birth, it actually changes the way that your brain works and operates and for engaged dads too. So I didn’t know I didn’t expect that that kind of change would happen to me, and how grateful I am for it. Because what it has done is it has connected me to a sisterhood of mothers I didn’t know that I needed and it has changed to I want to serve. You know, I in the past have been fighting for profitability of big organizations, or small organizations like I’ve always fought for, for business and now I want to fight for people, and especially other mothers like it just they just are the community that I want to help so deeply. Now that it has changed my life’s work.
