ABOUT AMBER

Hello! I am Taiwanese-American, and I go by she/her pronouns. I grew up in Utah, went to school at UW, and now live in Portland, Oregon, where I’ve been working remotely and social distancing.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT GROWING UP IN UTAH

4 distinct seasons and amazing outdoor activities.

A MUST TRY/SEE WHEN VISITING PORTLAND

The plant-based food scene alone is worth moving to Portland. I love Kati Portland, The Sudra, and Sisters Ethiopian.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE

My experience is as a project manager at small to medium agencies. To date, I’ve supported clients in the commercial real estate, wine, and most recently, tech industries. I love the variety and challenge of being a project manager and am looking forward to taking my PMP exam in 2022.

WHY LIONS & TIGERS

I joined Lions & Tigers because I could shout our mission from the rooftops! The team at Lions & Tigers is out of this world, and there’s a genuine sense of community and support every day. I feel totally empowered to take ownership of my work, and like I could ask for help at any time. That is a rare and special balance to find.

AREAS OF INTEREST & PASSIONS

I’m passionate about social justice and fighting climate change with an intersectional approach. I highly recommend the How to Save a Planet podcast for people wanting to learn about all the different angles from which we can tackle climate change. I like that they take an optimistic approach to activism, which is more inspiring than doom and gloom. On the weekends, you can find me hunting for vintage furniture in Portland, OR. Fun fact: everything in my living room was either found at an estate sale or purchased from a vintage dealer based in the PNW. It makes me feel good to divert these special, one-of-a-kind pieces from the landfill and support local businesses.

BEST VINTAGE FURNITURE SCORE
Recently I scored a Noguchi Akari light sculpture at an estate sale for $15. The lamps are made by hand in Japan and have been a holy grail design item for me. I was probably excited for a week after finding it.

BIGGEST BENEFIT TO FLEXIBLE, HIGH IMPACT WORK

I think people produce the best work when they have room to be themselves and manage their own energy. When people are empowered to prioritize their own wellness alongside their professional lives, our entire society can grow to be more mindful and caring of each other’s humanness.

FAVORITE BOOK/TV SHOW/MOVIE

I was blown away by Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. The world building is epic. It’s short and best enjoyed by setting aside an entire afternoon to just consume in one go.

COFFEE OR TEA

Tea!
