Brea Starmer
Founder & CEO, Lions & Tigers
Keynote speaker, thought leader, and workforce innovator
When Brea Starmer was laid off during her pregnancy, she resolved to find a solution to the all-or-nothing career model – for herself and others like her. She set out to create a new set of conditions in which individuals could thrive on their terms and alongside a community.
In 2018, she founded Lions & Tigers, a company that enables enterprises and public sector organizations to tap into the nearly 50% of highly-skilled professionals choosing independent work. L&T builds blended workforces that integrate fractional and freelance experts with client teams, helping leaders scale with agility, access top-tier talent, and achieve their goals.
Under Brea’s leadership, L&T has created $34M+ in economic opportunity for 250+ consultants, with a team comprising 87% women and 33% People of the Global Majority.
Through their proprietary method, L&T creates sustainable work models for companies including Microsoft, SAP, Alaska Airlines, and the Washington State government, who want to build the most modern, magnetic talent model on the market through inclusive talent pools and higher-performing organizational cultures. Their network of 3,200+ consultants specializes in marketing, communications, operations, project and program management, culture and change enablement —available through fractional, staff augmentation, advisory, outcome-based consulting, and freelance arrangements.
A passionate advocate for authentic leadership, Brea “parents out loud,” often including her three children under 10 years old in work settings and encouraging her community to bring their whole selves to work. An alumna of Washington State University, where she served as student body president, Brea now advises several gender and pay equity organizations. She resides in Woodinville, WA with her college sweetheart, Andrew, and their kids.
